Nestled along the Cape Fear River and just minutes from beautiful beaches, Wilmington blends historic charm, cozy cafés, and scenic coastal views. It’s the perfect place for a relaxing weekend trip that feels both peaceful and inspiring.
I visited in October, and it truly felt like the ideal time to go. The weather was mild, the crowds were minimal, and the entire experience felt slower and more intentional. If you’re planning a visit, I highly recommend going in the fall. As an added bonus, we found free parking on Saturday, which made exploring the city even easier.
Where to Eat in Wilmington
Breakfast at Blueberry’s Grill
One of my first stops was Blueberry’s Grill, a well-loved local spot that absolutely lives up to its reputation. The space feels warm and inviting, creating a comfortable atmosphere to start your day.
Although there was a bit of a wait, it was well worth it. The menu offers a great balance of classic and seasonal options.

After watching The Summer I Turned Pretty, I was especially drawn to explore some of the filming locations around Wilmington. Seeing these places in person added a unique layer to the experience, especially if you appreciate that soft, coastal, cinematic atmosphere.
